Get evaluated: You need to get evaluated by a doctor and just be honest. Let them know that you think you may have depression. They will do the rest. They will likely run some lab tests to rule out any medical causes of depression, such as a low thyroid. If it is depression, they can then make the appropriate recommendations for treatment. Identify: Agree w dr. Howell. Identifying that there is a problem is the 1st step. Clarifying what the problem is, is the 2nd step. That clarification can come from evaluation by your physician, a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Recommended treatment may be therapy (like cognitive behavioral therapy), medications or correcting underlying medical conditions. So right now - the ball is in your court!
