Reason to be checked: Women in the menopausal years may have all sorts of variations in their menstrual patterns. It may be that there's nothing wrong! but i think you are right in being cautious. Your doctor may want to get an ultrasound (painless soundwave picture) of your uterus to make sure the uterine lining hasn't grown thicker than normal. She may recommend a biopsy of the uterine lining, done in the office.
