Is using baby orajel bad for the gums? someone told me it toughens the gums and i shouldn't use orajel.

Teething: Orajel is a numbing medicine for babies when teething. Sometimes the medicine can irritate the gums. It does not toughen the gums. Other options for teething babies include cool teething rings and pain relievers such as acetominophen. Check in with your baby's doc if the baby continues to be irritable despite trying these things or if you baby develops sores or white patches on the tongue, gums.

Not to Be Used: I find it does not work well and may rarely cause very serious side effects including methhemoglobinemia which is life threatening.
