Traction?: Without seeing your daughter or having more history it is difficult to know, but one cause of hair loss like you describe is "traction alopecia." this happens when a person habitually pulls the hair back forcefully (in braids, ponytail, etc.) and the stress of the chronic traction causes hair loss. The good news is that this can be resolved by changing the hair style.
