Not common : Implantation bleeding occurs a few days after conception (if it occurs at all). Implantation is more common on the internet than in real life if you are bleeding on the day you start your period this is most likely your period. If you are unsure though you can always take a home pregnancy test.

Not: Implantation bleeding is sporadic and unpredicatble, doesn't happen at all in most cases in other words there is no 'usually.' bleeding that heavy is unlikely 'implantation, ' could be breakthrough or other reasons.

Can you please define implantation bleeding?

Placenta implant: When the placenta implants into the inside lining of the uterus it's like a plant growing roots. Maternal blood can leak out during this process and scare women that they may be having a miscarriage. 1st trimester bleeding occurs commonly in 25% of pregnancies, but only results in miscarriage in about half of theses cases. A visit to your OB and a pelvic sonogram is the evaluation needed.

Is there such thing as implantation bleeding?

Yes: Implantation bleeding occurs at the time that the early pregnancy "burrows" into the endometrium of the uterine wall. It usually occurs around 6-8 days after ovulation or cycle day 21 of a 28 day cycle. The amount and color of the bleeding are variable, but it is harmless. Progesterone levels should be +/- 20 ng/ml around this time of the cycle. In repeat miscarriage check Progesterone levels..

No bleeding: If you have a normal implantation, you should not see any bleeding. If you think you are pregnant and are having bleeding, you may be experiencing a threatened abortion or miscarriage. Visit your doctor for further evaluation.

Not really: Politely, "implantation bleeding" is mostly an internet fad - 'real' implantation bleeding is sporadic and highly unpredictable, and doesn't happen at all in most cases. No, it's not like a period - bleeding that heavy is unlikely 'implantation, ' could be breakthrough or other reasons.
