Many possibilities: Knee pain can be caused by many conditions, such as patellofemoral syndrome (pain in the joint between the kneecap and femur), quadriceps tendonitis, patellar tendonitis, bursitis, meniscus (cartilage) problems, etc. If symptoms persist, you should see a physician for further evaluation.
