Rash: Having lupus predisposes you to other autoimmune disorders. I think you need to have your rheumatologist look at the rash to have a proper diagnosis and determine how to treat it.

Overlap: This could be from dermatomyositis, either overlapping with lupus or the sole disease present. As to why, that's just where they occur. Such trophism is an excellent, but to my knowledged, unanswered question.
