A member asked:

What are risks of baby visiting (weekly) a home where there's heavy cigarette smoke odor but no one actually smoking around baby, just the odor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Smoke lingers: There are studies showing that the particulate from cigarette smoke can remain in the nasal passages of a baby for weeks, enough that byproducts of nicotine are found in their urine. Generous rinsing of the nasal passages with nasal saline after any visit may reduce the effect.
