A member asked:

What are risks of having baby in a home that has a heavy cigarette odor but no one smoking around baby, just the odor.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many possibilities: The baby raised in such a home will have 2x the frequency of respiratory tract and ear infections, it will have a fractionally higher risk of crib death. The risks go up to 3x if anyone smokes around the infant. In time the kid will grow up thinking smoking is cool and become one of the next generation addicted to the product.
