Anovulatory bleeding: Pregnancy is always on the list of possibilities when a woman has abnormal uterine bleeding or cycles. You may be having anovulatory cycles (cycle without producing an egg from the ovary). If a urine pregnancy test is negative, i would recommend evaluation by your gynecologist, and treatment will depend on the cause of the abnormal bleeding and your current short-term pregnancy goals.

Anovulatory cycle: Anovulatory cycles are very common cause of irregular bleeding in young women in whom it's very common to have irregular periods. It's doubtful that anything is wrong but best to go see your family doc for evaluation. If you're worried about irregular periods, birth control pills can help regulate them. Or depoprovera can stop them altogether. Unless you want baby/sti, practice protected safer sex.
