Easy: There is the quick and dirty why that may take as little as two appointments and there is the time tested 5-7 appointments that is required to give you optimal results. The world leaders in denture construction still take 5-7 appointments shortcuts can lead to terrible results. Complete denture construction is still an art not a science.

Full dentures?: Full dentures means you have no teeth at all. Impressions are made of the gum ridges, denture bases are made and teeth set on them. There should be a number of try ins before completion so you can see what the new teeth will look like. Don't expect the dentures to feel like your own teeth. They don't!

Dentures: I will describe what is considered as the classic way. It is the way i work in my practice: app by app. 1. Oral exam and preliminary impressions 2. Custom impression (made from trays fabricated with the first impressions) 4. Wax rims adaptation and bite record: here, we decide how much tooth needs to be shown, lip support, bite patter 5. Teeth try in (on wax) 6. Dent delivery 7. Adj as needed.

Not easily: Simply: preliminary impressions, final impressions, trial set up and delivery. It takes years of training and experience to fabricate the right denture. Patient experience, opposing dentition, ridge shape, type of teeth and cusp angulation etc etc etc. A prosthodontist is a specialist to seek an evaluation for dentures. Good luck.

5 visits: In general there are five steps. The initial impression, final impression, bite, try in and delivery. At the try in appointment, the teeth are set in wax and the bite and cosmetics are verified. In other words, the dentist verifies the bite is correct and you the patient approves how they look. The teeth set in wax are the actual teeth that will be in the denture. Once approved delivery is next.
