Good question: There are many different types of ulcers- viral, aphthous, traumatic, fungal, autoimmune, precancerous etc. Each one has a different cause and a different way to handle, treat or prevent. See your general dentist, an oral surgeon, ENT or primary care physician when you have them and then you can get some better answers as to type, cause, and treatment.
