Could my heart valve leaking become a serious problem?

Possibly: 100% of human beings have some leaking of the heart valves. I can't remember the last time i saw an echo with none. Echoes have become exquisitely senstive and can detect the most minute amount of leaking. That said, severe leaking eventually takes its toll and needs to be fixed at some point (and there are very specific criteria for timing that).
