Cod Liver Oil: Cod liver oil contains more vitamin a and vitamin d than any other food. This is pre-formed vitamin a, though -- not the beta carotene you can get from plants. You probably want no more than 2500 iu of preformed vitamin a/day. It is fat soluble and the excess is stored in your liver. Cod liver oil also contains high amounts of dha and epa -- long chain omega-2 fats.
