Soft Guard Only: You must get a soft guard that is thermoplastic and/or even a soft sports mouthguard to wear during bruxism if you are fully bracketed/banded. If you have invisalign, it would be completely different, aligners can serve to protect as well.

No: But your dentist may be able to build on your back teeth and back side of your front teeth by creating three point of the contact and this help you from damaging your teeth.

No: Night guards, whether hard or soft, are made to your existing occlusion. That means when you put it on it negates whatever orthodontic correction was made while it was off. Please discuss this with your orthodontist. Know that as teeth straighten grinding often disappears.

Depends on severity: Normally a mouthpiece is not recommended for someone with braces, because it could hinder tooth movement that needs to be accomplished with the braces. But a soft mouthpiece may work, but it may have to be continually changed or a new one made to accommodate the change in teeth alignment.
