Bleeding: There can be massive hemorrhaging from an arterial bleed. This can lead to exsanguination . Amputation of a limb or a portion of a limb for which bleeding is controlled would not have the same level of blood loss. However be aware that people can die from blood loss due to a traumatic amputation.
