Follow up with your doctor to double check his original assessment. In any case acupuncture will help both. Add in myofascial release therapy to ease pain. This therapy will also active the healing needed to begin a cure.

See below: I would try a medication for neuropathic pain like Lyrica (pregabalin) or gralise. I have had great success with cumbalta as well.See a pain specialist who had do an x-ray guided injection of the nerve.
