A member asked:

Can the start of menopause cause or have an effect on, dissociation, bipolar or thyroid problems? i have been diagnosed with all three.

YES!: Hormonal imbalances, particularly involving the thyroid and sex hormones, can derail mental health. The body is all about biochemical balance, and any diruption of this balance will cause mental/psychological and physical/physiologic symptoms. Your body creates these symptoms as "alarms" to warn you about these imbalances.

Partial answer : I have not seen menopause to have any particular effect on dissociation. I have not seen menopause have any particular effect on bipolar disorder either. I do not feel qualified to answer the question regarding your thyroid so i will leave that up to one of my colleagues to comment on.
