No stages: There are no stages. It's diagnosed by measuring the ejection fraction (which is the blood ejected in a single beat). Normal is 55%. Less than 55% is cardiomyopathy. Mild, moderate, & severe are often used to describe. There may be no symptoms. Breathlessness with exertion and easy fatiguability are early symptoms. Echocardiography is the test of choice to diagnose it. Cause is looked for next.
