Studies show.....: Use tweezers or fingers. Grasp tick as close to skin surface as possible. Pull straight up gently and firmly. Do not jerk or twist. Do not squeeze, crush, or puncture tick as the body may contain infectious agent. If entire head does not come out - leave it in place- it will be expelled. Wash with soap and water. Observe site for lyme disease rash for 30 days - if you are in a lyme area.
