Testing hormones: Typically a woman can test her 'ovarian reserve' by getting a fsh and Estradiol at any time, regardless of when her cycle is. A doctor sometimes wants to test mid-cycle for lh. In addition, i would test your TSH and prolactin levels. You can ask to see another doctor who can do these tests for you. At 39, you should be aggressive with fertility, so if you aren't happy with doc, find a new one!
