A member asked:

Sex 43 days ago. on pill doubled up after missed one first week. light bleeding during placebo pills. last couple weeks hpt and blood test say negative. could i be pregnant. have some symptoms but have tendency to worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. Thus, pregnancy in this case is very unlikely.
