May or may be not: This may be from allergies. Or it may be new asthma. You want to check with your lung doc if does not get better. Inhaled medications may become useful. All the best.

Could be: Allergies can indeed cause a post nasal drip (PND) that irritates the throat and causes an annoying cough. I have had good success with rx nasal sprays that help with allergies and the pnd, getting rid of the cough too. Best wishes.
