Lighter skin spots?: In the U.S., getting new whitish or lighter-colored skin spots may be from a deficiency of skin oil, skin moisture, pigment (melanin), or pigment cells (melanocytes), but is not suspected to be from a deficiency of any nutrients (because people have adequate nutrition). Some infections can leave lighter spots. A dermatologist can examine the spots to see if they are just eczema, or something else.
