No: Incontinence is the inability to control bladder function or bowel function. The patient may be totally unaware that they are having urination or a bowel movement. In the context of hydrocephalus, one usually is concerned about bladder incontinence. It is one of the symptoms of normal pressure hydrocephalus. Bowel incontinence is unusual unless the hydrocephalus is associated with myelomeningocoel.
