Could b strep throat: It is probably ok to watch for 1-3 days, depending on how bad it hurts and other symptoms. You should see a doc if you also have fever, headache, tummy ache, or if your ear is really sore drink plenty of fluids, get enough rest if the boy is sick, that could also give you info about what you might have.
