Sadly, yes: Children can have strokes but not for the same reasons adults do. Adults develop atherosclerosis and cardiac rhythms disturbances which can lead to stroke whereas children may be born with arterial-venous malformations and aneuryms which can lead to stroke. Vasculitis and infection are additional rare causes of stroke in young people.
