Bleeding: Have you had a hysteroscopy? Even two small fibroids if positioned in the uterine cavity can give you constant bleeding.

We would order an MR: To evaluate the fibroids, their size and their location. We also look at their viability (are they alive or dying) and if they are viable, uterine fibroid embolization (ufe) might be an option. Look at www.Ask4ufe.Com.

Hormonal issue: Unless the fibroids are growing inside the cavity of the uterus (affecting the lining) they are not likely the cause of this. You should talk to a gyn about other causes. Heavy periods can be due to a patient's hormonal milieu. Pts who are overweight, or in their 40s+ can have changing proportions of estrogen and Progesterone that can cause heavy/irreg periods, also need to check for polyps/precan.
