Chance : This scenario will be presented to the prescribing physician on rare occasions. On a few occasions the same urine specimen was sent to two different highly reputable reference labs for confirmation. In a few instances bup was positive (lc/ms) in one lab and not the other. The patient and not the lab should be treated in this scenario. Based on probability, if negative, it is a true negative.

Neg: lab error. the problem is that most providers are going to fear that you are diverting your medication. if your physician is not wanting to continue your treatment because of the negative test then offer to be retested. the reality is that doctors that prescribe buprenorphine are monitored by the DEA and they must be vigilant about diversion or lose their prescribing ability.
