YES: It is best to avoid sweets with any type of diabetes. Nuts are high in protein which is an excellent choice for a diabetic.

Yes: Tree nuts, like cashews, are great sources of healthy oil, protein and calcium. All of those are nutrients you need right now. They do not raise blood sugar levels and blunt to blood sugar raising effects of other foods. People who eat nuts are, on average 10 lbs lighter than other people.
