A member asked:

My sgpt is 41 u/l so hows the status of my liver? what does that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

One of many tests: Sgpt/alt is one of the many markers of liver function. Level of 41 is near normal, but that does not mean that your liver is normal since there are many different disorder affecting the liver that may not raise sgpt. All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that.
