What does "diagnosis deferred" mean? it was located under axis ii of a psychological test i took for adhd.

Not enough info: Diagnosis deferred = not enough info to make a diagnosis. It is actually fairly common to defer diagnosis on axis ii esp for a pt seen only once or twice. Axis ii is meant for a mental retardation or personality disorder diagnosis. Neither is possible to make with just 1 clinical interview.

Means "won't answer": Axis ii addresses personality disorders and intellectual difficulties--if you are being admitted into care for an axis i clinical disorder, it is not uncommon to hold off on looking for other issues until the primary problem is improved upon and stabilized. Usually it is addressed later on in treatment--if there is a disorder present.

More info needs: This is common for axis ii that is really referring to a pervasive pattern of behavior .It requires more than "a test" to identify am appropriate diagnostic label for axis ii-generally multiple meetings

I: It simply means that there is insufficient information to make a definitive diagnosis, most likely because this wasn't the focus of your visit. Axis ii is where disorders of personality and intellectual abnormalities are usually noted.

No diagnosis: Means no diagnosis was made for that category. Axis 2 are personality disorders. If you were being tested for adhd it would have been odd if they had entered a diagnosis under axis 2, in fact, since that's not what the testing was about. (btw, adhd becomes a problem for most people only in certain environments. Sometimes it is an advantage! ).

No diagnosis: Dsm-iv the current method of diagnosis uses a multiaxial system. Axis i is primary psychiatric diagnosis, axisii is used for personality disorders, learning disorders, and developmental disorders. Deffered means the clinician has not made any diagnosis for axis ii.

Dx Deferred: It means no axis ii diagnosis was made -- as in, decision deferred until a later time. Axis ii is the area for developmental problems and personality disorders. If the focus of your visit was an axis i problem (like add), applicable diagnoses would have been placed in axis i. Axis ii diagnoses generally take more than 1 visit to identify.

Diagnosis deferred: Means that there is inadequate information to rule in or rule out a disorder. Axis ii has to do with character traits and personality disorders. It would be uncommon to be able to make a new diagnosis for a personality disorder in one visit (but can be done with adequate history and collaborative info).

Not assessed: It means that you were not being assessed for a personality disorder or that the doctor that was administering the test was not qualified to give you a diagnosis. In this case it doesn't seem like you have anything to worry about, you were being tested for adhd and the doctor did not need to follow up on a personality disorder.
