Itchy red bumps: The description of itchy red bumps that come and go is very much the description of hives. Hives or urticaria is very common affecting 25% of people. Sometimes there is swelling. Causes are many and unfortunately treatments available are fewer. While hives are not dangerous or contagious, the itching can be very uncomfortable. Allergist or dermatologist can assist in diagnosis and treatment.
