Everyday: It is a very common problem with multiple possible causes. It might be the lungs, the heart, the thyroid, or other organ systems. Start with your primary doctor and he will tell you who to see.

Yes: Shortness of breath can occur from a variety of causes including asthma, emphysema, acute or chronic bronchitis, pulmonary embolism, congestive heart failure, musculoskeletal diseases, malignancy, etc. The list of causes of shortness of breath, or dyspnea, is very extensive and it is important to see your doctor if you have this symptom.
