Doctor visit : Swollen ankles could be due to a multitude of causes ranging from simple pooling of fluid in legs ( dependent edema) to varicose veins to medication side effects to inadequate pumping of the heart. Simple measures you can take are obtaining compression stockings, staying active and avoiding excessive salt however for this problem i would recommend a check up with your primary care doc.

Stockings: If you feel your swollen ankles aren't related to direct pathology, try getting a pair of compression stockings (<10mmhg). This may help with the swelling but to get definitive treatment, see your primary. Hope this helps.
