A member asked:

Can you please define diverticulites and what causes it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infection: Small out-pouches form on the outside of the colon, most often in the left lower abdomen. Infection of these pouches (diverticulitis) causes abdominal pain and fever, treated with antibiotics. Try to avoid by eating high fiber foods, avoid junk foods and fast foods, avoid constipation, drink plenty of liquids, take fiber supplements such as metamucil.
