Restless legs?: Look at a website for restless legs and see if those symptoms describe what you are experiencing. If so, it may run in your family. Iron deficiency can make it much worse, so consider asking your doc to test your ferritin level. If you are having persistent pain in a particular part of your leg over an extended period of time, that is not RLS and may be due to other causes. Should be checked.

Magnesium deficiency: Some who are deficient in magnesium get charley horses (cramping) in their legs at night. Talk with your doctor about it, but you could consider supplementing with magnesium glycinate or taurate, 200-300 mg at night and see if it helps. You may need more than this amount, but that's a start.
