No drugs: Generally, the only type of hernia that causes trouble breathing is a large hiatal hernia. This is only resolved by surgical repair. If the hernia is another type, the breathing problem may not be related. Large abdominal wall hernias can affect breathing, but it is unusual. See your doctor to find out.
