Oral Steroids: The cause of actinic lichen planus is unknown. It mostly affects dark skinned populations. Lesions appear mostly on the areas that are exposed to uv rays, i.e. Sun light. Oral steroids are considered an effective treatment to this ailment. Diminished exposure to sun light and the use of uv light blockers are used as part of the therapy.
