Infection: This is the bacteria that causes strep throat which if untreated may cause permanat heart disease, kidney problems, skin infections, pneumonia , among potential complications. If you have it, treat with antibiotics to prevent complications.

...: Group a strep" (aka streptococcus pyogenes) is a bacteria that can cause "strep throat" and skin infections. Also serious infections in the blood, muscle (necrotizing fasciitis; "flesh eating bacteria") and streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (stss). Left untreated it can cause heart and kidney problems (acute rheumatic fever and poststreptococcal acute glomerulonephritis).
