Many causes...: Many things can cause anal "leakage", ranging from internal hemorrhoids to anal abscesses or rectal prolapse. Some of these will improve enough that the severity of the symptoms don't justify a surgery. However, examination by a knowledgeable doctor is important because an anal or rectal cancer can also cause leakage.

Feces leaking out: The involuntary loss of fecal material from the anus results in brown staining or feces on your underwear. Most often it is caused by some damage to the anal sphincter (the "elastic band" that opens and closes when you have a bowel movement) by prior surgery, anal receptive sex, or nerve damage. Also, severe diarrhea or impaction (hard stool stuck inside) can cause this. See your doctor!
