Who can i ask about getting an iud? my ob gyn thinks i'm too young (i'm 22 years old) and says its not recommended because i haven't given birth yet.

IUD is ok : Most gyn's believe that an iud is fine for someone your age , even if you haven't given birth. Do a search for the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud and read what is said about usage in women like you. Good luck.

Skyla: There's another iud called skyla that is a bit smaller than the Mirena (levonorgestrel) and could also be good for those who have not given birth. Either way, an iud is an excellent form of long acting, reversible, birth control.

It's safe. : Iuds are safe for adolescent and nulliparous women (those who are young and not had children). The most recent acog committee opinion can be found here: http://www.Acog.Org/resources_and_publications/committee_opinions/committee_on_adolescent_health_care/adolescents_and_long-acting_reversible_contraception.
