Need to go see a doc: If you have severe sore throat, you may be better off going to an er and seek immediate medical attention. Pain medicines will help to control your pain. Antibiotics may be required if the doctor found any indication of infection in your throat. You could take tylenol (acetaminophen) to relieve the pain although it alone may not be enough.
