What causes excessive muscle twitches? my thighs, calves, thumbs, and other body parts will twitch for months at a time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Muscle twitches: There are many causes of muscle twitches, such as electrolyte imbalances, medication side effects, or too much caffeine. They are usually self-limiting. When they are excessive, they are concerning. There are neurological conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (als) that can cause muscle twitches. Please go see a physician for a thorough history, exam and appropriate testing.
