Really constant?: Nausea 24/7 means you experience symptoms at night & are missing sleep--a scenario that raises considerable concern. Daytime nausea can reflect a central (brain-related) problem, infection, GI motility delay, gallbladder/pancreas issue, atypical migraine, partial obstruction of gut, stress, nongi inflammation, more. Accompanying alarm signs: bleeding, weight loss, refractory vomiting. Get checked.

Start w family Dr.: He or she will evaluate and refer as needed . In the mean time drink some ginger ale or ginger tea to decrease your nausea. Take care.

What causes nausea?: Nausea/vomiting may be gi-related (food poisoning, peptic disease, gastroparesis, due to biliary & pancreatic disease, gas/bloat syndrome, small bowel problems. Consider "central" causes: motion sickness, vertigo, migraine headache, brain problems (some very serious). Also, rule out infection (? Urinary tract), medication side effects, pregnancy, & even reaction to stress. Your doctor can help.

Many things: There are around 5 systems in the body that affect the nausea response. Your balance system in your ear. Mechanical problems with your digestive track. Many medications can trigger nausea. Hormone imbalances as well as heart problems . Increased pressure in your brain can also cause nausea.

See answer: Nausea is likely to stop by the next day as the half-life of the progesterone is about 8 hours (The blood level falls 50% every 8 hours.) Since you have nausea on progesterone type medication you would be a good candidate for the IUD.
