Well...: Lots of dogs & humans have staphylococcus aureus bacteria on our skin. It is usually ok unless the immune system is compromised. It may enter the body through a wound. Mrsa (methicillin- resistant staphlococcus aureus) has been described that can be passed back & forth btwn a dog & a human. In this situation both pet owner & animal need to be treated. From reading, don’t think it’s common.
