It can be: Acyclovir given orally can be safe for a 2 year old who is otherwise well and has normal kidney function. The medication should be dosed based on the child's weight. It is important to drink lots of water while taking this medication. Be sure to let your doctor know if your child is taking any other medications to be sure there is no adverse interaction.
