A member asked:

What to if i am having a scan for ovarian cysts tomorrow, if i was pregnant could this be harmful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The energy used by the ultrasound machine to examine you is safe for an early pregnancy as well. However, tell the technologist of your concerns so that the exam can be done in the shortest period of time and so that color/power doppler is not used on an early embryo. These are just precautions that are followed routinely when there is a suspicion of pregnancy.
