Confirm diagnosis: First, the diagnosis has to be confirmed beyond doubt by testing. Over the counter oral vitamin B12 treatments do not work in this disease and a doctor or nurse practitioner has to prescribe injectable B12 or B12 nasal sprays life long for successfult treatment.
