Common: Although there are cases where parkinson disease is passed down from 1st degree relatives, most of the time the cause of the disease is unknown.

Common: Many cases of parkinson disease are not familial. Some families have clearly inherited forms of pd due to a genetic mutation, but most cases of pd are not obviously familial.
